A 21st Century Approach to Energy Research and Education:  Flow Engineering

Energy production is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity today, and the importance of hydrocarbon recovery cannot be overstated: the world’s energy needs over the coming decades will be met with new solutions to hydrocarbon production.  

Throughout the 20th century, many academic research programs made significant progress towards improving energy production through traditional academic disciplines.  Energy production in the 21st century will be defined through fundamental and applied research that addresses flow—the flow of fluids, gasses and materials through reservoirs, and the thermo-, hydro-, chemo-, and mechanical coupled processes that inhibit the recovery of energy resources. 

ANPERC’s raison d’etre—flow—translates into a unique multidisciplinary, collaborative learning and research environment for faculty and students.
