Abstract

The first enantioselective Brønsted acidcatalyzed electrocyclization-protonation reaction has been developed which provides a number of different cyclopentenones in good yields and with high enantioselectivities. The stereodetermining step of this asymmetric Nazarov cyclization reaction is an asymmetric Brønsted acid-catalyzed kinetic protonation.
