Abstract

The rodlike/flexible polyimide blends were synthesized using poly(amic acid) amine salt precursors. Poly(amic acid) amine salts were obtained by neutralizing the protons at the carboxylic groups using amines. These precursors are free from the molecular transamidation reaction. Misciblity of PI blends was demonstrated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermomechanical analysis (TMA). The blend showed a glass transition temperature very close to the flexible one, demonstrating the immiscibility of the blend.
