Abstract

We report recent developments in the application of the transient grating technique to thermometry in high-pressure combustion environments. A modular transmitter was engineered that facilitates initial beam alignment and provides a stable platform for single-shot measurements over an extended period of time. Methods of performing real-time data analysis were examined for data collected in a pressurized flame. Finally, we discuss a means to perform the technique using a single laser that provides enhanced signal strengths in a simpler experimental arrangement.
