Abstract

In this paper, The IMplicit Pressure Explicit Saturation (IMPES) scheme has been developed to treating the model of the two-phase flow in a porous medium including a dynamic capillary pressure. The pressure equation is treated implicitly with the saturation equation. Stability condition of the scheme is determined. The results show that the IMPES scheme with dynamic capillary pressure is more stable than it with static capillary pressure. Moreover, unlike the case of static capillary pressure, the IMPES scheme with dynamic capillary pressure is stable with larger time steps.
