Abstract
Characteristics of turbulent lifted flames in coflow jets have been investigated by varying the initial temperature of coflow air from 300 to 900K. In the turbulent jet regime, the liftoff height increases linearly with jet velocity and decreases with initial temperature. The behaviors of liftoff height have been investigated based on the premixed flame model and the large-scale mixing model. For the liftoff height, the premixed flame model was found to be effective regardless of initial temperature. In the case of the large-scale mixing model, the thermal diffusivity evaluated at initial temperature showed much improved correlation than at the adiabatic flame temperature which adopted previously.
