Abstract

A study was conducted to demonstrate a complete field guide to asymmetric BINOL-phosphate derived Brønsted acid and metal catalysis. History and classification by mode of activation; Brønsted acidity, hydrogen bonding, ion pairing, and metal phosphates were investigated. The study also investigated the correlation between Brønsted acidity and reactivity. A series of catalysts were tested, and the rates of the reactions were measured to conduct the investigations.
