Abstract

The synthesis and applications of convergent dendrons and dendrimers were discussed. During the growth of dendrimers, the number of monomer units increased exponentially with generation while the volume available to the dendrimer growed proportionally to the cube of its radius. The results showed that the dendritic molecules developed a more globular conformation with increase in generation.
