Abstract

In the paper 'Variability of dynamic source parameters inferred from kinematic models of past earthquakes', by M. Causse, L.A. Dalguer and P.M. Mai (2014, Geophys. J. Int., 196(3), 1754-1769, doi: 10.1093/gji/ggt478), eqs (3), (5) and (6) provide scaling relations for fracture energy G, static stress drop ΔσS and dynamic stress drop Δσd as a function of seismic moment M0. In the published paper, these equations are incorrectly reproduced, although they are correctly stated in Figs 5(a) and 6, respectively. Eqs (3), (5), and (6) in the main text must be replaced by the following equations: log10(G) = 0.60 log10(M0) - 10.6 (3) log10(ΔσS) = 0.16 log10(M0) - 2.3 (5) log10(Δσd) = 0.21 log10(M0) - 3.0. (6).
