Abstract
The sequestration of CO2 is currently an important task for the modernization of power plants and refineries. For this purpose membrane technology can be a helpful tool. There is an increasing motivation for improving the selectivity of membranes for CO2 separation from the other gases. Composite membranes based on 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and different diamines containing polyether segments were synthesized by sol-gel processes. The composite membranes were characterized by single and mixed gas permeation, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. CO2/N2 selectivity values up to 75 and CO 2/CH4 selectivity values up to 20 were measured.
