Abstract
In this paper, first a decentralized piecewise linear representation of the turboshaft system dynamics is developed. Then control theoretic concepts for decentralized adaptive control of a turboshaft engine piecewise linear model is developed. This controller can be used to control the engine for the entire flight envelope with decentralized adaptive controllers. With this control architecture, the two subsystems of the engine (i.e., engine core and engine fan/prop) can be controlled for large throttle commands, and two independent adaptation mechanisms have been used for that purpose. Simulation results show the possibility of controlling a turboshaft system in a decentralized architecture for a large throttle transient. © 2011 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.
