Abstract

An electrostatic surfactant was designed to engineer the interface in nanocrystal-polymer solar cells. The surfactant, bound to nanocrystal surface, faciliated charge transfer and limited recombination by physically and electronically mediating the interaction of organic and inorganic components. The head group of the surfactant was designed to ligate the nanocrystal surface, strongly attaching the molecule and passivating surface states of the semiconductor.
