Abstract

Energy transfer and amplified spontaneous emission were investigated using solid films of two perylene dyes in a host matrix of poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA). A nitrogen pump dye laser was used to achieve an excitation wavelength of 490 mm. The time-resolved luminescence experiments were carried out using a femtosecond mode-locked Ti-sapphire laser with a streak camera. Results indicated that nonradiative energy transfer occurred between two perylene dyes in a PMMA host matrix and with an estimated Förster radius for energy transfer of 70 Å.
