Abstract

The phenomenon of subcooled boiling in a vertical heated tube is investigated using liquid Freon-113 as the working fluid. Axial temperature measurements are employed to locate the onset of nucleate boiling (ONB) on the pipe. The flow patterns at the pipe exit for various test conditions are observed and their variations are depicted on a flow pattern map.
