Abstract
An experiment has been conducted to investigate flame behaviors in helium-diluted laminar lifted coflow jets within transient regime. There were two distinct self-excitation: the one was a buoyancy-driven self-excitation (hereafter, called BDSE) and the other was a capsized flame near flame extinction (hereafter, called CFFE) which shows a strange flame behavior that the lifted flame should be capsized to propagate to upstream like premixed flame. Numerical simulations for steady-state and reacting flows were used to find out phenomenon of BDSE and CFFE. The differences between the two self-excitations were shown and discussed.
