Abstract
The moderate Kleifarvatn earthquake on Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland, has already been studied by three different authors using InSAR and GPS geodetic data, resulting in significantly different fault models of the event. In this paper we compare these studies by reproducing the modelling set ups and by estimating the model parameter uncertainties of each case. Based on this comparison we demonstrate the benefit of using InSAR data from opposing look directions in suppressing fault parameter trade-offs. We also show that the inclusion of data error autocorrelations in the data weighting provides a meaningful balance between the different independent data sets and can further reduce model uncertainties.
