title = "Lessons learned from the Flexible Membrane Commode C9 buildup",
abstract = "The Flight Experiments technical element manages testing of Exploration Life Support Technologies at Lunar, Martian and microgravity conditions, to complement the activities conducted in ground laboratories and ground test bed facilities. NASA Glenn Research Center has taken on the role of Element Lead for reduced gravity flight experiments. Ames Research Center has been working on a proposed waste collection and storage system called the Flexible Membrane Commode. NASA GRC and ARC have collaborated to test the Flexible Membrane Commode on NASA's reduced gravity C-9B aircraft as well as Zero-G Corp.'s reduced gravity Boeing 727. During the course of this collaboration both teams learned about the issues and challenges in integrating and testing a {"}space toilet{"}. The lessons learned from this collaboration will be discussed in this paper.",
