Abstract

We report results for electro-luminescence emission from poly(p-phenylene vinylene) [PPV] thin films and discuss these in relation to photo-luminescence and photoinduced absorption data. The emission in both cases arises from a singlet exciton for which the lattice relaxation is small. The injected charge carriers in the electro-luminescent structures appear to be only weakly, if at all, self-localised. © 1991.
