Abstract

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) were used to align donors and acceptors and facilitate intermolecular energy transfer. Efficient energy transfer within the xy-plane on SAMs was achieved with mixed chromophoric adsorbates on silicon wafers. The light-harvesting properties of the resulting monolayers were tuned by varying the ratio of donor to acceptor chromophore in solution prior to monolayer formation.
