Low-energy electron-induced processes in condensed CF2Cl2 films

    Abstract

    The electron stimulated desorption (ESD) yields and kinetic energy distributions of F- and Cl- from thin films of CF2Cl2 condensed on polycrystalline platinum at 20 K were measured. Dissociative electron attachment processes caused a peak in the F- yield and an electron energy of approx. 4 eV and a peak in the Cl- yield at approx. 7 eV. Electron irradiation induced changes in the yield and kinetic energy distributions of Cl-.
