Abstract

Transparent supercapacitors are interesting for energy storage and management in future transparent electronics and have become an intriguing research topic at the interface of materials science, energy and electronics research. This minireview presents the recent progress in transparent supercapacitors, particularly the use of nano-engineered materials to construct transparent electrodes. Focusing on the two key features of transparency and capacitance, we analyze the influences of nanostructures on the electrode and device performances, and present the outlook the future perspectives for transparent supercapacitors.
