Abstract
Ceria-zirconia (CZO) is an attractive candidate as anode material for SOFCs due to its catalytic activity and its electronic and ionic conductivity. In this work, ceria-zirconia powders with different compositions were synthesized by citrate route and characterized using N2 physisorption, SEM, and XRD. TG/DTA curves of the precursors helped to optimize the synthesis method. The reduction at 1000°C and the subsequent reoxidation at 600°C originated some structural modifications in CZO. The porous powders were impregnated with 50 vol% of NiO by a liquid mixture technique to form model anodes, which were characterized by SEM. copyright The Electrochemical Society.
