abstract = "This paper addresses nonlinear effects in successive wave crest height statistics in finite water depths. Two models of joint distribution functions of successive wave crest heights are presented. The first model is based on second order Stokes type nonlinearity, while the second model is a parametric model based on second order simulations. Analysis results from previous experiments with changing water depths are included in order to evaluate the models. Comparisons are made between the two models and the experimental results. The nonlinear effects observed in the data are well captured by the models.",
