Abstract
In the reflection spectrum of PbI//2, a new line which can be attributed to the n equals 3 exciton state has been observed, indicating that the exciton series in PbI//2 is normal and obeys a Wannier Law with a groundstate ionization energy of 30 meV. A fluorescence peak of 4 meV above the exciton ground state has been detected polarized with E parallel to c which is probably due to the extraordinary polariton mode. Many spectra revealed the polytypic nature of most PbI//2 samples.
