Abstract

We have investigated the photophysics of hetero-aromatic polymers containing heavy atoms. Our aim was to investigate the effect a heavy atom has on the intersystem crossing rates of polymers. The triplet state lifetimes were found for all polymers studied. An increase in the triplet formation rate will in general reduce the fluorescent yield in turn reducing the polymers fluorescence efficiency.
