Abstract

Optimum power loading algorithms for selective transmitter diversity systems over flat Nakagami fading channels are considered. Both power limited and interference limited systems are studied. It is shown that the diversity links statistics can be exploited to optimally allocate the power among the transmitter antennas. The performance criterion used in optimizing the power allocation is the outage probability which is the probability that the link quality falls below an acceptable level. As an illustration of the mathematical formalism some numerical results for particular cases of interests are plotted and discussed.
