Abstract

High resolution photoconductivity spectra of PbI//2 have been measured at low temperatures in the region of the exciton groundstate. A doublet structure of the exciton line has been evidenced. This feature as well as the basic physical processes underlying the observed relationship between reflectivity and photoconductivity are discussed in relation to the polariton concept including the aspect of spatial dispersion.
