N2 - The propagation rates (Uedge) of single and twin premixed edge-flames were measured as a function of global strain rate (σ) for H2-O2-N2 mixtures with low reactant Lewis number (Le). Stability maps in terms of dimensional strain rate (σ) vs. percent fuel exhibit regions of single and multiple stationary tubes, moving multiple tubes, nearly planar flames, wrinkled flames, and uniformly wrinkled flames. Uedge varied linearly with σ regardless of flame mode. For instance, as edge-flames transition from nearly planar to wrinkled to uniformly wrinkled the propagation rate changes almost linearly. Additionally, the shapes and features of premixed edge flames could be explained based on the combined effects of Lewis number, strain rate, heat losses and thermal expansion.
