Abstract

This paper summarizes the approaches which have been used in the preparation of polymers with chiral reactive groups: enantioselective polymerization; asymmetric modification of a pre-formed polymer; attachment of a chiral side-chain to a reactive polymer; and polymerization of a monomer with chiral pendant groups. Selected applications of chiral polymers are discussed, including separation media for the resolution of racemates and polymer-assisted asymmetric synthesis.
