    Abstract

Draft operation is a widely used in current CAD/CAD systems. In this paper we present a new draft algorithm for B-rep models, which overcomes the shortcoming in current used methods in which only small angles are allowed to keep the topological structure unchanged. In the proposed method, after generating an initial drafted body, we correct the faces of the initial drafted body and use a heuristic searching algorithm to obtain the final body. The proposed algorithm is more robust when compared to the previous methods. Finally examples are presented, showing that our method increases the capability of draft operation and can be used in a much large range of applications.
