Abstract
The control surface allocation problem was considered in the case when the surface allocation is limited to be a linear mapping from moment space to control space. An approach based on ellipsoid volume maximization was applied to a numerical model of the F-18 HARV. The convex nature of the optimization problem made it possible to incorporate the proposed approach in a real-time aircraft control allocation reconfiguration in the event of damaged control surfaces.
