Abstract

In (he present communication eight new lanthaiiuni(lll) and praseodymium(III) complexes of the general formula (LnCI(L)(H2O)) (Ln = LaIII and PrIII: LH2= Schiff bases derived from 2,6-diacetylpyridine and 4-amino-3-(phcnyl/2-chlorophenyl/4-chlorophcnyl/4-nitrophenyl)-5-mercaplo-1,2,4-trizoles were synthesized In the presence of base. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility, electronic absorption, Infrared, far-Infrared, 1H NMR spectral studies. The thermal behaviour of the complex under non-isothermal condition was investigated by TGA techniques. The presence of coordinated water molecule in the complex was inferred from TO which indicates the loss of one water molecule at 150-165 °C. All these Schiff bases and their complexes have also been screened for their antifungal activities by MIC method.
