Abstract

New experimental data concerning the thermodynamic behaviour of 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane (HCFC-142b) are presented and compared to published data. These results are correlated by simple equations of state like the Peng-Robinson. HCFC-142b has been used for fractionation of poly(ethyleneoxide) (PEO). For supercritical fluid processing, it was found to be quite efficient in obtaining a polymer with a very narrow molecular distribution. PEO fractionation has been reported at 423 K in the pressure range 8-35 MPa.
