Abstract
Earth's subsurface structure visualization in 3D has been of great interest, especially to seismic data applications. However, most visualization tools have been geared to serve common acoustic P-wave data visualization. As result, we developed new visualization program (based on Metrological code Vis5D [1]) that is capable of properly handling and visualizing 3-Component seismic data. Thus, View3D, as system for interactive visualization of Seg-Y datasets in 3D, enables users to make isosurfaces, contours sections, vertical slices, time slices, stack volume renderings and most importantly track polarization vectors, which has applications in anisotropy interpretation of fractures, among many other Earthly phenomena. Grayscale and RGB colors are supported allowing interactive color control of the graphics. The generated slices can be moved in left-right, back-forth, up-down directions in 3D cube. View3D allows animating, zooming in-out, clipping, annotating, rotating and translating of the rendered graphics interactively. The probing feature allows five dimensional data inspection; i.e. lines, traces, time, sample number, and data values occurring at each line, trace & time intersections. Another distinguishing feature is its capability of displaying multiple datasets for comparison; datasets can be incorporated at runtime, overlaid in same display or in matrix, allowing linking & synchronizing graphics & performing interactive analysis.
